2020 | Mixed Media: Denim, Fabric, Paper on Canvas, Stretched on Wood Frame

This Rwandan artwork explores the theme of equality and how its absence can lead to serious problems in society. It encourages viewers to embrace a powerful principle: treat others as you would like to be treated. If practiced, this mindset could help create a more peaceful world.

The piece reflects on a painful moment in Rwanda’s history—the lack of equality and mutual respect leading up to the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi. It reminds us of the importance of valuing one another as equals.

The materials and themes are deeply rooted in the Rwandan context, making this work both culturally specific and universally relevant.
